Shock ripples through the party, but no one speaks as they watch The Kingfish circle the Hut. He appears to be in his late 40s, a strong, brutish man with a big black beard, shells and bones woven into it. One side of his face is scarred from past burns. Dango recognizes him for who he is.

The party enjoys a morning beverages at Charming Charlie’s—a coffee with a lot of milk for Nim; a black coffee for Dango; a coffee with A LOT of sugar for Brin; and a tea for Kor—before setting out to do some exploring in Scuttlebutt Island.

Lift Off
The wind begins blowing even wilder and louder as Hanu begins his descent. Brin, still hiding outside the Nova mill, overhears the pirates talking about leaving via a ship at the rear of Hanu. They are interrupted by the Kalika and the Daughters of Zara, and she confronts the pirate in charge, CARVER. He is apparently a former “driftwood” resident of the island who was allowed to leave, and has returned to steal Nova.

Descendants
The party is grudgingly informed by Kalika that they will be taking part in the algae harvest from Hanu’s underside. The algae is also highly-desirable to insects and birds, so, as “driftwood”, the party is responsible for protecting the tribe members doing the harvesting, or “farmers”.
